Most popular international flights to Almaty arrive early hours. So if you are not staying in Almaty and you are to take another flight later in the day, then the best thing to do is to book yourself into a nearest hotel.
Trust me it is more realxing, than having to spend your time inside the airport terminal. However, there are only a couple of hotels in and around the Almaty Airport at the moment. Here they are:
Three Star hotel Lequipage a.k.a Ekipage hotel is only a couple of minutes walk away from the airport. It's a four-story building, built in 2007. You can have free parking, free wifi at the business centre and free breakfast.
Airport taxi is available for a reasonable fee and I do suggest you use this service, as although Equipage hotel is situated not too far from the airport, the neighbourhood is not lit enough to enjoy the walk there.
Now, what I wouldn't suggest though is taking a ride by the "taxi drivers" (you will not iss them) that are just outside the airport exit, unless you know what you are doing.
