Dike Kokaral

Kokaral Dam has been completed in 2005 in order to save the Nothern Aral Sea from further shrinkage.

It worked quite well, as there has been a considerable rise of the sea level and increase of the sea's salinity level.

Kokaral was the name of the island in the northern part of the Aral Sea, that disappeared as a result of the Aral Sea shrinkage.

Kokaral is traslated as the Green Island.
